The professional Counseling Services staff members are licensed practitioners. These highly trained professionals are experienced in the assessment and treatment of college students with situational stressors and career concerns, as well as more severe mental illnesses. Advanced graduate students from regional universities enrolled in various behavioral disciplines are affiliated with the UNO Counseling Services office. These interns function as counseling staff during a respective practicum and/or internship, and are supervised by licensed, professional counselors.
Barbara S. Mitchell, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT
Director
Barbara S. Mitchell, Ph.D. (Tulane University School of Social Work) and MS Health Care Management (University of New Orleans) is the Director of UNOCS. She obtained accreditation for the center in 1995 from the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS). Dr. Mitchell is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and marriage and family therapist (LMFT) as well as an approved supervisor for these professions. She is also a court approved mediator with the Louisiana Family Mediation Council for family disputes and juvenile mediation. Dr. Mitchell has extensive experience as a generalist mental health practioner with a strong interest in student mental health, student affairs, professional education, and program development.

Rosamond Myers, Ph.D.
Assistant Director, Internship Training Director, Licensed Psychologist
Rosamond Myers, Ph.D. (University of Southern Mississippi) is the Assistant Director of UNOCS and serves as Training Director for the masters level internship program offered by Counseling Services. Earlier in her professional life, Dr. Myers worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, but since 1991 has chosen to devote her career to working with college students in university counseling center settings. As a clinician, Dr. Myers is a generalist, and works with a wide variety of student concerns. This is an ideal match for her interests as she enjoys assisting students from various walks of life address and successfully meet developmental, academic, and personal life challenges. Additionally, Dr Myers enjoys her supervisory role with young professionals in training, and working with them to develop their professional competencies and identities. She has supervised students at the masters, doctoral, and post-doctoral levels in various mental health fields.

Adrian C. Péré, MSW, GSW
Professional Counselor and Coordinator of Outreach Programs
Mr. Péré earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Tulane University in May 2007. Mr. Péré has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families with a variety of emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal issues, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, sexual identity, and communication, with a focus on the influence of developmental issues on interpersonal relationships and overall personal well-being. Additionally, Mr. Péré has worked in the areas of crisis intervention, community organization, and outreach, as well as with training and psychoeducational programming. He is currently pursuing licensure through the Louisiana State Board of Social Work under the supervision of Barbara Mitchell, PhD, Director of UNO Counseling Services.

Kris UnKauf, M.Ed.
Graduate Counselor
Mrs. UnKauf earned a Master of Education degree from the University of New Orleans in 1998, and is currently enrolled at UNO as a doctoral student in Counselor Education. She approaches counseling from a family systems perspective, and sees clients in a variety of formats, including individuals and couples. In addition to her work with individual and family counseling in private practice, Mrs. UnKauf enjoys working with a diverse college population, and has experience in presenting psychoeducational workshops, as well as Residence Advisor training, and career testing. She is currently pursuing licensure with the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board under the supervision of Dr. Gerald Rich.
Chris Bishop
MSW Intern
Chris Bishop is a MSW candidate studying at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of May 2009. Mr. Bishop received a BS in Biological Sciences from UNO in December 1998. His professional interests include individual counseling and alcohol/substance abuse counseling.

Emily Crocker
MSW Intern
Emily Crocker is a MSW candidate studying at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2008. Ms. Crocker received a BA in Psychology and English from Michigan State University in May 2006. Her professional interests include individual and group counseling, interpersonal problems, trauma and crisis work, and gender issues, and she has had extensive training in crisis and domestic violence interventions. Ms. Crocker is supervised by Rosamond Myers, PhD.

Erin Pirrung
M.Ed. Intern
Erin Pirrung is a M.Ed. candidate studying in the UNO counseling program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2008. Ms. Pirrung received a BA in English with a psychology minor from Texas A&M University in August of 2005. Her professional interests include individual and group counseling, trauma and crisis work, and working with survivors of suicide. She has had extensive training in crisis intervention, specifically suicide intervention. Ms. Pirrung is supervised by Rosamond Myers, PhD.

Amy Vincent
MSW Intern
Amy Vincent is a MSW candidate studying at Tulane University School of Social Work with an anticipated graduation date of December 2008. Ms. Vincent received a BA in Sociology from NSU in June 2007. Her professional interests include individual counseling and couples counseling, both whom are dealing with interpersonal problems, anxiety, depression, and alcohol/substance abuse counseling. Ms. Vincent is supervised by Barbara Mitchell, PhD.

As Administrative Assistant, Ms. Johnson will likely be your first contact with UNOCS. Ms. Johnson's goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment while explaining our services, scheduling appointments, and handling the day-to-day operations of the UNOCS office.
