The
University of New Orleans is an urban, state system university with a
student population of approximately 12,000. Most UNO students live in the Greater
New Orleans area and many are non-traditional. There is a large graduate
and international student constituency. Likewise, the client population
of Counseling Services is quite diverse in age, culture, race, ethnicity,
and presenting problems. These factors along with the supportive university
community, provide an exceptional multidisciplinary training experience
for the highly motivated social work, counseling, or psychology student.
UNO
Counseling Services assists students in their psychological and vocational
growth and development by providing a full range of personal counseling,
skills building workshops and groups, psychological and career testing,
outreach, and programming. High quality field placements and internships
are our secondary mission. Training and supervision for students are provided
by Counseling Services staff who are licensed, experienced, and highly
skilled mental health professionals from a variety of disciplines.
